Why might you want to want to buy me a drink?

My Million Dollar Year is set up to share my journey on raising the initial funds for various creative projects in the span of one year. It's also much more than that. I'm sure we've all heard old expressions like "feeling like a million dollars." I've decided that this year, regardless of the financial success of this project, is going to be my "Million Dollar Year." Read on to find out how.

...Because you'd be helping to support several creative Projects.

Ever since I was able to hold something in my hand I've been creating things. I owe a lot of that to my family, who has always supported the creative side of life.

I’m sure most of us remember the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I’ve always hated it. Even in the days of juice boxes and required naps, we’ve been told that we need to decide “what we want to be.” I’ve never wanted to be just one thing. And I don’t think anyone has to. I’ve also encountered this with many of my peers. I always hear about what they’re doing, and what they want to be doing. The problem is that the two never seem to match.

“I’d like to be an artist, but I can’t make anything creative.”

“I’d like to write a book someday, but I can’t write.”

“I’d like to have more adventure, but I can’t find the time.”

Yes we can.

I don’t want to be one thing. I want to be an artist. a writer. a film maker. a traveler. a photographer. a collaborator. a teacher.

There’s no reason to feel trapped in any one area. Find what you want want to do, and do it. That's been my phiosophy so far, and it seems to be working.

This project is my attempt to raise the funds necessary to work ‘twords some of these dreams. Over the past few years, I’ve been working on various entrepreneurial and creative endeavors, some for profit, some for fun. Some successful, some not. I’ve decided to set the bar high and try for my largest project yet... one that will open all sorts of new possibilties.

A lot of the money raised from this project will go towards the projects that I normally fund out of my own pocket.

Most of the funding at this moment will go towards building our community at ProjectSidewalk.com. Although this is only a rough draft of a concept write up, you can read more about the future of Project Sidewalk here.

The blog on this site will also contain lots of updates on current, new, and future projects.

Some of the projects will be community based, like Project Sidewalk. Others will be random smaller things that I want to make myself, like a more polished version of the Rejected Valentine's Cards or the Procrastination Flowchart. Others are small experiments, like my micro blog at Ehdom Likes. Or collaborative art project, such as "The Eye of the Beholder" project.

Speaking of which, If you see an idea for a project idea I have, feel free to use it yourself. I strongly feel that ideas should be free. If you can make it work, go for it. I’d love to see some credit, but in the end it’s up to you. The most important part is that someone is doing it.

...Because you're interesting, and I'd like to talk to you.

Admit it, you know you're pretty awesome, right? I'd love to be able to talk to you a bit. People absolutely fascinate me.

Everyone has a story.

I also enjoy the small details that make all of us who we are. For example, I love when payphones ring but no one is around. I love that feeling after waking up naturally when you're on the whimsical boundary between being awake and asleep. The smell of old books. I could go on forever, but we'll save that for when we talk.

Whether or not you decide to buy me a drink, I'd be honored if you'd send me an email at ehdom@mymilliondollaryear.com. Write to me about anythign you want, and I'll do my best to write back.

Tell me your story. I want to know what moves you, what angers you, what inspires passion into your life. Or just drop an email to say "Hey."

Either way, let's talk.

...Because you're probably just as curious if this is even possible

This whole thing sounds a little crazy, right? I know. But I want to tell you a secret.

It's possible, and so is anything you decide to try for.

While the financial success of this project would allow a much wider range of creative possibilities, it's not dependant on it.

Even starting this project (and believing that it can work) has given me a motivation I haven't felt in a long time. I'm hoping that you can share some of that with me.

I'm going to make something, anything, at least once a day.

Pictures. Movies. Writing. As long as it involves making something. Ill do my best to post things as I make them over on the blog.

I'd like to encourage you to do the same, and tell me about it. Send me an email and we'll talk. Show me things you've made, things you're planning on making, or like I mentioned earlier, email me just tell me how the weather is.

...Because you'll be forever recognized as part of this project.

Buy me any drink and you get your customized drawing on the front page. The site has over 530,000 hits at the time that I'm writing this. That's a lot of traffic that could be directed back to your own sites. One drink and your name and link will be there as long as the site is alive.

You can also just buy me an anonymous drink, I’d appreciate it all the same.

If you’d be so kind, you can help move these projects along by buying me a drink.

Here’s to dreaming big.

Ok, this is all great, but who am I?

My name is Brandon. Some of you might know me from my other largest project, ProjectSidewalk.com. I’m currently a full time student perusing a degree in English with a concentration on creative writing. I’ve been an only child until my parents recently adopted my beautiful little sister. Though I don’t get to see her that often, it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. I’ve never been one to write about myself, so instead, why not get in touch with me elsewhere? There are many ways to get it touch with me. Find me on Virb, Flickr, Twitter, Comments on this site, or various other ways if you look hard enough.
